Happy Jelly Bean Day! Why Not Celebrate With A Popsicle.....

No don't worry I haven't lost my mind. Every year I get the opportunity to discover more and more fun days, and today just happens to be National Jelly Bean Day. No one seems to know just where the Jelly Bean first came from but jelly beans earned fame as president Ronald Reagan’s favorite treat (he started munching on them to help him stop smoking his pipe). Jelly Belly, maker of the famous gourmet jelly beans, created the Blueberry Jelly Belly just for the president, he even said before “We can hardly start a meeting or make a decision without passing around the jar of jelly beans.”
Popsicle and Jelly Belly have released new Popsicle Jelly Belly pops this month, and it is just in time for this tasty holiday. The new treats combine the iconic frozen treats that parents remember and kids love, with Jelly Belly’s famous jelly beans. Popsicle Jelly Belly pops have a unique chewy center and come in a variety of fun flavors like Blueberry, Very Cherry and Tutti-Frutti.
I know here in West Texas it is going to be 85 today, so I'll celebrate this holiday in the sun with my kiddos and a couple of ice cold Popsicles!

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)
