Green Giant Raise a Giant

I've spoke a handful of times on here about the issues my family has had with bullies. Unfortunately one of the hardest things that kids have to deal with is bullying. Being bullied by a peer can turn school from a learning environment to nothing short of a daily torture chamber. That’s why Green Giant® is partnering with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center and We Day Minnesota to help parents Raise A Giant and put a stop to bullying in their community.
Now you might be wondering what it meas to "Raise a Giant." We aren't talking about raising a child that is bigger and better then everyone else. What being a giant means standing up for others, lending a hand to those who are in trouble and speaking up for those who sometimes find it hard to speak up for themselves. Studies have shown that an effective way to stop bullying is for kids to simply speak up and say, “That’s not okay” when they see bullying happening. But asking kids to have the courage to stand up to bullying is a tall order and that’s why they need our help. I truly believe that kids really simply live what they learn.
I was asked to help spread the word and help take a step to help Raise a Giant. I was asked to write a letter telling my kids how special they are and encouraging them to be part of the bullying prevention solution by being a giant. Here is my letter:

"Dear David, Nicholas, and Allison,

I know sometimes you may get tired of hearing me say this but I love you. You guys have taken my life and made it whole, every day showing me how amazing a child can be. Every school year it seems like we fight and struggle with that one child, who for whatever reason seems to have a hard time knowing how to be a friend. I wanted to let you know that I couldn't be more proud of how you guys have handled situations that you have been faced with. David, even though you got suspended for 5 days in school, I couldn't have asked for you to handle things better when you stepped in between two school mates to tell them there was better ways to handle things besides fighting. Nicholas, I love how you are always trying to be a friend to people even when they may have treated you bad in the past. Allison, you have a heart of pure sugar and mommy couldn't love that more. Always a friend to everyone you seem to share your smile with everyone. If you never remember anything remember how to care for others and to teach people to care. A smile goes a long way, or even a nice word. You never know why that person may be a bully, but no one actually enjoys being a bully. Sometimes all they really need is a friend and you can be that friend. So keep making mommy proud I love you.

XOXOXO, Mommy"

I would just like to take a moment and encourage everyone to write a letter to their own children. It is funny sometimes you don't think about the good your children do, I actually cried writing this post.lol It really made me step back and see the amazing people my children are becoming. Visit Raiseagiant.com to read more letters and share your own :)

Tell me how you are raising a giant and you could win a $25 gift card from general mills! Just leave a comment below :) **CONTEST ENDS 11/7/13**

**Compensation was received for this post in the way of a donation to the PACER foundation and the gift card prize**

All Aboard The Polar Express West Texas & Lubbock

All Aboard! THE POLAR EXPRESS comes to life this holiday season as the West Texas & Lubbock Railroad rolls out of the station bound for the “North Pole!” Come early and climb aboard with your family to cozy-up and enjoy our festively-decorated vintage train cars. Dancing chefs deliver hot chocolate and a cookie to each guest to savor while music from the Polar Express movie plays en route to the North Pole. Make sure to have your tickets handy, because your conductor will be by shortly to punch each child’s ticket.

Before arriving at the North Pole, the iconic book, The Polar Express is read as your Chef turns the pages to share the beautiful illustrations in the original book. With the station far away, THE POLAR EXPRESS magically arrives at the outskirts of Santa’s North Pole village, where Santa Claus himself and his elves joyously welcome the train! As you stay comfortably settled and warm in your seat, Santa and his helper elf board the train! During the return trip, Santa will greet each child with his signature holiday spirit and the first gift of Christmas: a bell cut from his sleigh. It is said that only children and those who still believe can actually hear the bell ring. Join in the singing as your Chef or Conductor lead Christmas caroling on the 30-minute return trip.

For those wanting the magic to last or to do a little Christmas shopping, visit our gift shop in the station for special POLAR EXPRESS gifts and merchandise. Oh, one last thing, children are encouraged to wear their PJ’s; adults who still believe have been known to wear them, too! So, are you coming? All Aboard!

Gorton's #WickedGoodSeafood Review and Giveaway

As a blogger there is nothing better then a fun review, especially when it involves food. Recently I was invited to join the Gorton's Blogger Crew to help get the word out about their products. Now I won't lie when my package came in the mail I was a little more then concerned about how this was going to go. Let me set the scene....It is 110 degrees outside and you come home to and check the mail.....in an envelope you get this:
HAHA yeah that was my first thought to....welp guess I'm not doing this review! After a moment I got online to chat with some fellow bloggers that have joined with me on the crew and discovered this wasn't scary not at all! Infact Gorton's made this review awesome and fun! Here is what was inside my crew's pack:
So loaded with coupons to try their products, so I am able to share with my fans. Recipe cards to help me with some new ideas, post cards, a key chain, and an adorable UBS drive(the little fisherman) I was more then set to get busy!
So when I head to my store it was needless to say I was more then disappointed to find out that their freezer section had broke! Fast forward a couple weeks and they are finally starting to restock with some of the newest products. So I had one option on this shopping trip and picked up a box of Gorton's Simply Bake Tilapia. Now I'll admit I'm more of a fish stick girl, but as I get healthier of course I want to add more options in healthy fats and proteins to my family's diet.
It was a really neat that it came in a bag that all I had to do was put it in the oven and walk away, after setting the timer of course. Everything was contained within a cooking bag with a viewing window even :) Each box contains 2 fillets and what is nice is you have the option to cook one at a time! So I can make myself a tasty lunch while everyone else is away.lol

Now you may have noticed I really used the word Wicked Good Seafood in the beginning of the post....there is a reason! Right now Gorton's is hosting the "Wicked Good Seafood" Online Sweepstakes where you could win a family trip to Boston. If you visit Gortons.com you can also find great things like coupons and recipes, or even explore all their great products.
As part of the Gorton's Blogger Crew I am excited to offer you a giveaway. One of my lucky fans will win  (3) $2 off coupons, 1 Gorton's-branded ship wheel, an assortment or recipe cards from Gorton's and beautiful Gorton's postcards. Just make sure you enter on the Rafflecopter below :)
*I received the above mentioned products in order to conduct this review. Regardless all views expressed are those of my own and were in no way influenced*

Angry Birds Star Wars II Telepods Review and Giveaway *ended*

It is amazing to think that it is already time to start thinking about Christmas again. With 3 children it always amazes me the things that are out there these days to play with. Recently I was given a chance to review a new game from Hasbro called Angry Birds Star Wars II Telepods. Angry Birds have been a very popular item in our house since they flew onto the scene, and well we love Star Wars as well so my kids were more then ready to help review this game!
Angry Birds Star Wars II Telepods was so fun, it brought to life the games that the children enjoy playing on the phone, and while we love playing on the phone, sometimes I think it is so important to actually interact with your children. You have different characters that you can launch to take out Darth Pig, and best of all you are able to build and design his evil fortress however you chose to!
My 6 year old couldn't get it to stand up big and fancy like it the pictures but she really wanted me to show you her evil fortress. :) The pieces are made of a nice heavy plastic and the characters are sort of rubbery so that they do not break when they hit each other. After designing your fortress you are able to pull back on you Angry Bird Space craft and let him fly! Now I will admit, I am not the master at this game and it is a lot harder to hit the target then you would think. However we had tons of fun with it and it kept my children entertained for over an hour each time we have played it!
Another thing I have really enjoyed is the App. Yes you read that right! Angry Birds Star Wars II Telepods has a compatible App that you and your children can play with and enjoy. As I mentioned before my kids really enjoy playing on my phone and even our kindle fire. Now due to the size it is much more fun to play on the Kindle Fire, and no one gets mad when the phone rings lol
So Join The Pork Side and check it out today!
If you would like to take a sneak peak at the App for this game you can do so HERE
To purchase Angry Birds Star Wars II Telepods visit Hasbro HERE, it is also available and many leading retailers.

Stealing Those Extra Moments #sharewhatsgood

“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Welch's. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”

With school time brings less family time. Between school, sports, and other after school activities it seems like every day get busier and busier. Sometimes it seems like I barely get to see my family. Recently when I was invited to participate in an event from Welch's it got me thinking....how do I steal those extra moments of time with my family?
One thing we always make sure to do is eat dinner together as a family. I don't think anything is more important to me then to be able to sit down together and least once a day. It gives me the chance to find out how school was, my husband's day at work, and even what is on their mind. It never ceases to amaze me the things children will tell you if you only ask. What are some ways that you steal time with your family? How do you steal those little extra moments in your family's life?
Welch’s believes in the magic of “kitchen table” moments, and has been helping families enjoy them for generations. In the time it takes to drink a glass of juice or share a sandwich, a special moment can happen. That’s why Welch’s just launched a new movement called “Share what’s good™” .  It’s all about sharing those special moments that occur each day with family, friends and loved ones – whether it’s at home or on the go. At Sharewhatsgood.com you’ll find a variety of great content from fun family ideas to delicious recipes. You can share photos of your every-day moments and see how others are doing the same. In fact there is currently a photo contest surrounding this movement.

The “Share what’s good” Photo Contest Details:
As part of the Share what’s good campaign, Welch’s has launched the “Share Your Moments” photo contest!
