Simply Saturday a Little Life Update

Good morning everyone I hope you are all having an amazing day :) a lot going on this Saturday for me. Woke up early for no apparent reason so I have been a busy busy bee! Cleaning like crazy with a lot of laundry to do. Unfortunately I ran out of laundry soap so after 1 load I had to stop and make more laundry soap! You can find out how to do that HERE if you would like to find a great way to save money. I also did a little weeding in the garden which is going so great! I think I may have finally found a way to garden here in West Texas. Which does NOT mean I will be here forever but perhaps it can make it a little more enjoyable. I can't wait till Monday to show you what has been going on. My posts though till June will be limited on pictures :( apparently blogger does not love me enough to let me load pictures so the option is to put them on flicker so I can turn them into HTML and add them in. They limit the amount in one month that I can upload Booooo!!!! One more week of sch…

Finding Cold Relaxation With Old World Gourmet

It is has gone from nice to miserable so quickly here in West Texas. With summer comes a way to not only cool down but enjoy the summer nights. Now I will admit I am not really a wine kind of girl but when a chance to review an adult Frozen Wine mixer came about I thought maybe it would bring a fun way to enjoy wine to my life. Old World Gourmet offers a wide variety of not only wine mixers but cocktail mixers and gourmet snack as well. I had such a hard time selecting which one to try first but finally I settled on the Blueberry Pomegranate Wine Mixer.

Simply Saturday and Life Rolls On

Some days I am not sure if Saturday is my favorite day or the one I dread. I love that my husband is home, although I wish he was here every day :) but I also hate that it is go go go all day long because we get so little time together these days. It was so nice to have a little help in the garden this morning. We talked a lot about the future and our plans seems to spin in circles in our heads. All I know for now is that whens summer vacation arrives I will be on the downsizing train! A massive yard sale will occur some time in the late part of June and again in late August before I return to work. I wish the world did not revolve around money but it does booooo!!! So we have 10 powerball tickets :0) yep that is today's plan I'll go back to the old one in the morning, but as my dad would say. You can't win if you don't play! On a side note if any of my readers win don't forget to share hehehe. Well before I continue to ramble it is time to catch up for the crazy n…

FedEx Delivery Manager One More Way to Keep My Sanity

This week was a rough week for a blogger. I waited and waited on a package all to have it say it was delivered......wait wait! Ummmmm......no it wasn't it isn't here. That is when I learned about FedEx Delivery Manager! It is much like the program UPS has. You can received notifications, change your delivery time and check on your packages more readily. While we think after 5 days my package may have been located it is still not in my hands and likely it will not be until at least Tuesday! From now on I will be using this tool!

Unjunk Your Junk Food!

You may know as a reader that my down fall in life is junk food. Usually the more unhealthy it is the more I like it! So naturally when I was given a chance recently to review a book that could help make my evil habits a little more healthy I was excited. Unjunk Your Junk Food is a book about how to chose healthy alternatives to your conventional snack foods. Written by the creators of NaturallySavvy.com (a site you have likely heard about) along with Lisa Tsakos this books takes a dive into the ingredients that are actually inside some of your favorite foods.

Simply Saturday Where This Blog Is Headed

I'm sure you have noticed that the blog is taking kind of a slow down. Besides being kind of tired lately and fighting either a cold or allergies that have decided to settle in my chest. So I got on today to try to do some blogging and talk about how our lives are changing. We have always kind of talked about it but the last couple months we have set a plan into action. Now of course even the best laid plans can fail but we are working hard towards a goal. You see over the next 15 months or so we will be saving and paying off what debt we have that remains. In this time we are also going to be saving some cash up to buy some land! Yep.....we are going to become homesteaders. We have a general location in mind although we have not yet settled on a place. We want it to be that perfect forever place that everyone dreams about. Although I am sure not all of my fans have the dream of living off the grid and off the land we will not simply focus on that. We will still have great garden …

Gardening In West Texas-Thank God For The Rain!

Yep you read right we got a little bit of rain! The last 3 days have been simply beautiful here in West Texas. Lots of clouds and even a small shower. Yep for once we got a day time shower, no lightening  and winds just some nice sky water. This week we did some MASSIVE work in the garden. Most everything is planted and I couldn't be more thrilled. All that needs to be planted this coming Mother's Day weekend is some regular cucumbers, watermelons and some more beans! I have decided to read up more of survival gardening and how to maximize everything, plus I wanted to reuse some of the stuff that was headed for the trash can here. So here are some great pictures for the week with some words about each :)

Relay For Life 2013!

If you have been around for a while you know that every year I do Relay For Life! This year fundraising has been......well pretty depressing. The only person to personally donate to the cause for me was my mother. Who ironically is the person who can least afford it. So I am sending out one last plea to my readers to donate to this cause. It all goes directly to the American Cancer Society and is in no way filtered through me. Tonight I will once again embark on walking in hope for a cure regardless and I plan on beating my 2012 total of 16 miles! Join me as well on twitter tonight to see my progress :) and THANK YOU! If you would like to find out more about the little boy we are walking in support of tonight you can head to Prayers for Parks page on Facebook :)

New Combat Ant and Roach Killing Bait Strips

Here in West Texas bugs are just a fact of life, but that doesn't mean I want them in my house! We have had a pretty annoying issue with roaches since since we moved into this house. We have tried about a million things to get rid of them with no real success. As you can imagine when these new Combat Roach Killing Bait Strips came out I was pretty excited to be selected to try them. They are not toxic to my children and pets like the sprays and bombs that can be used. They are easy to use to, which was pretty nice for a change. They came in a package of 10 which was great because then I could place them all over the house to make sure I got ever inch of the house covered. It was really simple to break them apart. Then all that needed to be done was removed the back and the front to expose the bait and stick it down and I was done! My hands never had to touch any chemicals and there was no smell put off. I have had the Combat Roach Killing Bait Strips down for about a week now and I …
