Spanish / English Learning Program For Children

It seems as time goes on it is more and more important that children learn to speak a second language. These days you need it to raise your position in a company or even just understand a new friend you may meet. What a better time to learn then as a child, they actually say that it is easier to learn at a young age and can even improve brain development as a whole. Recently I got the chance to review a bilingual children's book and while this book is designed primarily as a English language course for children with Spanish as their mother language it was very easy for me to turn it into a learning experience for my children.
Now I will admit myself I don't speak Spanish so this was a learning experience for not only my children but myself. The colorful characters were enough to draw the attention of my children, while the easy to read text was great for me. It helped to teach phrases like "Where do you live?" as well has how to reply appropriately. With 39 fun pages we have really enjoyed this book and will continue to use it. Whether you are an English speaking family looking to learn Spanish or a Spanish Speaking family looking to learn some English phrases this fun book is a great learning tool.
You can purchase this book on amazon HERE.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol
