Help a Child Smile This Semester With CampusBookRentals.com

I took this semester off from college but I wanted to bring to my readers not only a great opportunity to save money on  their college text books but an opportunity to help give the child a gift of a smile. With next semester approaching quickly most likely you have already selected your classes, and we all know what is next......yes, it will be time to get those books. This semester consider trying something new.....renting your books! CampusBookRentals.com has so many perks to offer:
  • save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
  • free shipping both ways
  • can highlight in the textbooks
  • flexible renting periods
  • we donate to Operation Smile with each textbook rented
And that isn't all, you can find more on their website CampusBookRentals.com, what I want to do is take a second to focus on something they do that really brings me joy. Every time a book is rented they donate to a great cause called Operation Smile. If you have been around the blog a while you have heard me talk before about them. Operation Smile is an international children's medical charity that heals children's smiles, forever changing their lives.  At Operation Smile, they are more than a charity, more than an NGO. They are a mobilized force of medical professionals and caring hearts who provide safe, effective reconstructive surgery and related medical care for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate. Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft. One in 10 of those children will die before their first birthday. The children who survive are often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some places, they are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can't afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a productive life. Every child deserves access to safe, quality surgical care, a future filled with hope, and Operation Smile helps give them that.
To often we are stuck asking what we can do to help, so CampusBookRentals.com has made it easy. All you have to do is rent your text books and they will take care of the rest, while saving you money. With this semester drawing to an end now is the time to think about what you will do with your old texts as well. Consider their new initiative, RentBack, that allows students to rent the textbooks they own - to other students, which is awesome because you can 2-4x more money compared to what you would make through buyback options!

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol
