Trucker's Friends, a Rugged Outdoor Tool

If you visit my blog regularly you have probably noticed we are a fairly outdoor family. Whether we are working in the garden, out camping, or even 4-wheeling we just love to be outside. So recently when I was given the chance to review The Trucker's Friend I was beyond excited. The Trucker's Friend is a a multi-use tool that can function as an axe,pry bar, hammer, tire chain hook, ice scraper, nail puller and wire twister. This really is the ultimate tool to fix issues with the car, camp site and more.
I decided to put this tool to the test, after all I had plenty of thing around the yard that needed done. Now I suppose this review is best done with pictures!
Since the most obviously use seemed to be as an ax I thought I'd try that first! We don't have a fire place so I don't have much wood around right now, but I did take a couple whacks at this old post that is seemingly stuck in the ground. With a good swing it plunged itself deep into the  wood, if I had been splitting a piece it would have been very effective.
Next I tried it out as a hammer, I was quite surprised how well it sank in the nail. With just one hit it went very deep into the wood, probably about half way. Now I have to admit the only thing that was concerning to me is that the ax would be faced towards me when swinging.
Of course if you ware putting a nail in, you might need to take it out right?!? The crowbar side worked perfect for pulling nails out.
Lastly I used it to help tighten up my garden fence. I had already pulled it as tight as I could possibly pull it so I hooked it and pried back on it. It worked VERY WELL and I was able to tighten the fence nearly a whole other row. Now I also used it to tighten the fence but I forgot to get a picture.lol
I am really loving this tool, it could be used on a regular basis no doubt. We have actually added it to our RV, as many of you know in the next year we will be moving with hopes of living off the land. This tool will be a great help.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Jello Hard Candy

Most hard candies call for corn syrup, but since I was out and I have 3 children home I decided to experiment and make something fun! Here is what you need:
2 Cups of Sugar
2 Cups of Water
1 Package Sugar Free Jello
A candy Thermometer

Making candy is a pretty tricky process and trust me I messed up a batch or two getting this to work right.lol Put the sugar and water into the pot and turn on medium whisking well till the sugar is dissolved. Stirring pretty regularly to help the sugar from burning. As the sugar begin to boil turn the heat up to high. Watch your thermometer when the candy reaches 230 pour in the jello continuing to mix. Pour this mixture immediately into a cake pan that is lined with parchment paper of you can rub a little veggie oil in it. The candy will continue to cook as it melts anything over 230 you will be left with a burnt candy that tastes like licorice.lol After you candy is cooled completely turn it out onto a cookie sheet and break apart :O) I like to dust mine …

Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler Review and Giveaway

Recently I was given an amazing opportunity to review a new product by Rubbermaid called the Hidden Recycler. As a family who does a lot to help our planet in many ways this was an exciting opportunity. I loved the fact the Rubbermaid not only made a product that would help my family continue their recycling more easily but they reduced packaging to merely a cardboard sleeve that I could in turn recycle. I quickly opened the package like a kid at Christmas and discovered it would not fit my kitchen cabinets :O( we are in the middle of a kitchen remodel and the layout of my old cabinets would not hold the brackets.  So as I sat down to gloat about not being able to use this amazing product, and I notice two holes on the lid and made a massive dash for the directions. Sure enough I can attach it with screws! (Which ironically took me forever to find in our construction materials) I found the perfect place for it in my laundry room and began putting all of Rubbermaid's claims to the …
