Keep UP With Your Fitness Goals With the Jawbone UP and Best Buy!

It is no secret by now that my family has focused quite a bit on our health this year. With huge genetic illnesses on both sides of the family we decided it was time to take hold of our health and hopefully change the hands we have been dealt. Recently through the Best Buy Wolf Bloggers program I was given a chance to add something into my lifestyle that has not only helped me track my fitness progress but it has given me the knowledge of my own body and what I was putting into it that I didn't before know. The Jawbone UP Band is a band that you wear on your wrist. This band tracks your steps throughout the day and when you wear it at night it can also record you sleep, from the time you are actually in bed to the time that you are in a deep sleep and a light sleep. The best way to describe this fitness device is through pictures :)
It is made of a flexible plastics with the workings
inside, it has a cap that covers the charging end and
a small button that you use to change it from wake
to sleep.
When you order yours there is a size chart, you simply measure your wrist and then find the size you need. The guide was very accurate and mine was a perfect fit.
You can link your band as often as you would
like by plugging it into the top of your iPhone
and select Android device. The results are
then listed by date in this easy to read graph.
I really liked that you are able to see the percentage of your goal that you had met. It really helped me to know just how much I needed to get my butt in gear to meet my goals! Speaking of goals you are able to set your own but it gives you a recommended goal for your age and weight :)
You can link the Jawbone UP app with
several other popular fitness apps. I don't yet
use any of these but I think it is such a cool
option to give you just that added edge in
following your fitness goals.

Keeping track of food is a very important part
of any healthy living lifestyle.
I really loved the food tracker. There was very few items that I came across that were not in the system. There was a nice feature to add your own as well. You could either search the library or you could use my favorite tool the bar code scanner. As I prepared my food I could scan the back of any packages that I was using and select my serving size. It added it to my menu :)
The things you add daily all get calculated together
so that you are able to see how much of the good
things and bad things you have put into your
body. The nice thing again is that these levels
are all based on your age and weight.
I have really had a lot of fun reviewing this product. While I am not perfect I love that I can keep track of my progress. With a 10 day battery life I don't have to remember to charge my band non stop either! That is a really nice feature :) It is comfortable to wear even when sleeping I barely notice it.
Of course there are some nights I don't need the band to
tell me I slept well ;)

It really is pretty amazing, the only thing I wish it had was a watch lol
I love my Jawbone, especially being able to team up with friends and seeing when they are slacking off! Nothing like a little competition to get you moving.

What a neat device. I didn't know it could track all that. Maybe these will help give people some motivation too.

This is so neat! I love that it can connect to so many different fitness apps, and that it tracks how well you sleep too!

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)
