Bodylogix Protein Powders

I may have mentioned before that as part of my day I like to enjoy a protein drink. I usually have a chocolate shake right before bed to help not only my cravings, but it help my muscles get the nutrition they need from my days workout. Recently I was given a chance to review a line of protein powders from Bodylogix. I received samples of their Vegan Protein, a large container of their Natural Whey Protein, an awesome aluminum water bottle, a bag as well as samples for their Chocolate Natural Protein Powder.
Before this review I hadn't heard of Bodylogix before, so when it came in the mail I was really interested in learning more. The first thing that really struck me was the packaging that was clearly labelled for recycling, not only with numbers but with clear directions on how to do it!
The large sticker on top :)
I know to many people this is something that is relatively unimportant, but as a family that is working on reducing our negative impact on the Earth I thought it was really neat. If I can save from putting one container a month into the landfill that is an amazing amount in my lifetime! I fully intend on composting the container when I am finished with it. The next thing I really loved about this product is something that is becoming more and more important as people learn about GMO foods. Bodylogix Natural Protein is GMO free, made with GMO free soy lecithin. It is also sourced from grass-fed cows in New Zealand and free of bovine growth hormone and antibiotics.
I love when NO is a good word ;)
I tried the Vegan first, because I have considered going more towards the vegan lifestyle. It wasn't to bad :) it was not quite the creamy texture I love to have to help with my cravings. As a vegan alternative though it would definitely work! Next I decided to try the Vanilla Natural Protein. Not being a big fan of vanilla I was very curious if I would find one that I liked.
I decided to go basic in my mixing the first time to see how well it mixes. If you have tasted a couple different brands I am sure you have had at least one brand that just doesn't mix, and there is nothing worse then a gritty protein shake.
The Bodylogix Natural Protein started to "melt" into the water almost immediately. After a couple or shakes in my blender cup I opened it up to see what I had.lol
It was frothie but it was not grainy that I could see and there was no residue left in the bottom. This was actually by far the best Vanilla Protein drink that I have ever had. Not at all gritty it seemed really creamy and actually filled me up in the evening making it easy not to snack on the bad for me foods(oh I love those foods.lol) I do have to say the sample of Chocolate Natural Protein was by far my favorite part of this review! I can't wait to pick up container of the chocolate as I get to the bottom of my Vanilla.
Now Bodylogix does offer much more then just protein powders. They have a whole line of nutrition items, you can get an online trainer and they have a free APP! To find out more make sure to visit their website (http://www.bodylogix.com) and don't forget to connect with them on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/bodylogix) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/bodylogix) as well. If you would like to purchase these products they are available at Walgreens and on Drugstore.com

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)

Jello Hard Candy

Most hard candies call for corn syrup, but since I was out and I have 3 children home I decided to experiment and make something fun! Here is what you need:
2 Cups of Sugar
2 Cups of Water
1 Package Sugar Free Jello
A candy Thermometer

Making candy is a pretty tricky process and trust me I messed up a batch or two getting this to work right.lol Put the sugar and water into the pot and turn on medium whisking well till the sugar is dissolved. Stirring pretty regularly to help the sugar from burning. As the sugar begin to boil turn the heat up to high. Watch your thermometer when the candy reaches 230 pour in the jello continuing to mix. Pour this mixture immediately into a cake pan that is lined with parchment paper of you can rub a little veggie oil in it. The candy will continue to cook as it melts anything over 230 you will be left with a burnt candy that tastes like licorice.lol After you candy is cooled completely turn it out onto a cookie sheet and break apart :O) I like to dust mine …
