EvaOlivia Organics Review + Giveaway

We have talked many times on here about all the issues my middle son has and how hard it is to find something that help to relieve his dry, cracking, scaly skin. Recently I was given the chance by a great new company to help chance his life by relieving some of his skin issues.EvaOlivia Organics is a company that I thought highly of even before I received their products. Now I don't normally say this but let me tell you a little more about the company and you will understand why. Founded by a mother with two daughter who suffer from allergies and have very sensitive skin, like many of us she tried EVERYTHING on the market and just wasn't happy. So she went out a did something about it! She went out and learned everything she could, not from a book but from her family and started crafting a product she would know is 100% Organic and not organic enough to pass as off and get a label.
Now on to the products! First we will start with the one that I love best for my children. The Skinfully Sweet Body Butter, has to be the product the worked best on my son. It is thick and creamy, made with Organic Shea Butter, Coconut, Olive, Vitamin E Oils and more it was all I expected and more. Body Butters are usually my personal favorite for myself, but I was amazed how even after rubbing it in completely my son's skin was able to maintain some of the moisture. Infact it stuck with his skin for hours, instead of simply minutes like a lot of the products I have tried. The scent is very light, and I still can not pinpoint what it is, but I LOVE it!
My children really enjoyed the Slow-Aged Handcrafted Soaps, we received three different scents. They really love being able to hold the bar of soap in their hand and scrub all over their body, I had to explain that it wouldn't lather the same as our "traditional" soap. I think the one I loved the best is what I believe is an Oatmeal bar soap, the slight texture to the soap really felt like it was really giving my skin a great clean feel. I also enjoyed that their didn't seem to be a film left on my skin, it really made me feel better about what I was putting on my children's skin.
Another product we received were the Body Polishing Cubes. I love, love, love scrubs. I am not sure why but it is something that once a week I just have to do. I have to admit I was a little worried I wouldn't use them right, lol yes I am one of those people that needs directions to just about everything. Luckily I am not sure you can mess up how you use them :) I decided that I would use them after I shave my legs I propped them up and scrubbed away with one. Let me tell you WOW! My legs have never been so soft, and the smell of mint was really refreshing.
The final set of products we received we a set of Shower Gels. The first one which I personally enjoy using daily is the Lemongrass Bath & Shower Gel. I was surprised at first how thin it was, I guess it is likely because my whole life we have used traditional store bought shower gels, but after I got use to it I realized it was so much better. It is easy to form a light lather and was easy to use with my wash rag, but it would also clean well wit just your hand or with your favorite loofa. The other shower gel has been my husbands favorite product(we all know how hard it is to get men to like our soaps). The Sweet Shea Bath & Shower Gel has a scent that I guess is a little hard for me to explain.lol It isn't bad at all it is pleasent but a bit more strong then the lemongrass.
I can't say enough how much I have enjoyed using these products. I have to say they have made a difference in everyone's skin. I am noticing a difference in my middle sons "genetic skin disorder" ( a whole other argument there) which is simply amazing to me! After 8 years of having his skin crack and bleed he has not had a single open wound in nearly 3 weeks now. We will continue to be life long fans of these products, I can't wait to try some of her other flavors out. Not only for myself but my children! To order some of these great products head to their website HERE.

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)

Jello Hard Candy

Most hard candies call for corn syrup, but since I was out and I have 3 children home I decided to experiment and make something fun! Here is what you need:
2 Cups of Sugar
2 Cups of Water
1 Package Sugar Free Jello
A candy Thermometer

Making candy is a pretty tricky process and trust me I messed up a batch or two getting this to work right.lol Put the sugar and water into the pot and turn on medium whisking well till the sugar is dissolved. Stirring pretty regularly to help the sugar from burning. As the sugar begin to boil turn the heat up to high. Watch your thermometer when the candy reaches 230 pour in the jello continuing to mix. Pour this mixture immediately into a cake pan that is lined with parchment paper of you can rub a little veggie oil in it. The candy will continue to cook as it melts anything over 230 you will be left with a burnt candy that tastes like licorice.lol After you candy is cooled completely turn it out onto a cookie sheet and break apart :O) I like to dust mine …
