Keeping Cool and Feeling Better With Fruttare

DSCN6056
I have been lucky enough this week to ask to review a cool new product and it couldn't have come at a better time. Not only has the heat been what can only be described as brutal, but my little princess has also been very ill(she got a bacterial infection in her throat). With the kids just getting out for summer vacation, summer is already in full force here in West Texas. I knew today when we woke up that it was going to be a frozen treat kind of day, at 78 degrees 4am felt more like it should have been 4 pm. Don't worry I am not eating Fruttare Frozen Fruit Bars at 4am, but I did consider it! What is Fruttare you ask? They are a brand new frozen treat made with real fruit and milk.

bad thing about sick kids is they don't take good pictures ;)
When I went to the store the shelves had nearly been wiped clear of these new bars! My kids decided that they wanted to try the Fruttare Strawberry Bars. The first thing I noticed when I opened one was how much it smelled JUST like a strawberry....I know what you are thinking...well yes Mellissa it is a strawberry frozen fruit bar it should smell like strawberries. I agree, but so many time there is so many preservatives and the fruit is so processed you can't smell it. Not only did these smell amazing but you could really see the chunks of strawberries right in the treat. These treats were nothing short of an extreme hit with my family and I have no doubt that we will continue to buy them. There are so many varities available I just hope we can catch them before they fly off the shelf next time! At just $3.48 for 6 LARGE fruit bars the value is great and the health factor is priceless over the pure sugar they could be eating to keep cool.
**Allison is starting to feel almost normal again. She still keeps a low grade fever but is able to act like a normal little girl again.**

Jello Hard Candy

Most hard candies call for corn syrup, but since I was out and I have 3 children home I decided to experiment and make something fun! Here is what you need:
2 Cups of Sugar
2 Cups of Water
1 Package Sugar Free Jello
A candy Thermometer

Making candy is a pretty tricky process and trust me I messed up a batch or two getting this to work right.lol Put the sugar and water into the pot and turn on medium whisking well till the sugar is dissolved. Stirring pretty regularly to help the sugar from burning. As the sugar begin to boil turn the heat up to high. Watch your thermometer when the candy reaches 230 pour in the jello continuing to mix. Pour this mixture immediately into a cake pan that is lined with parchment paper of you can rub a little veggie oil in it. The candy will continue to cook as it melts anything over 230 you will be left with a burnt candy that tastes like licorice.lol After you candy is cooled completely turn it out onto a cookie sheet and break apart :O) I like to dust mine …

The Children's Place Review and Giveaway

Recently I was lucky enough to be given a chance to review The Children's Place. With summer time in full force here in West Texas getting some new summer time clothing was not only a needed thing but a fun thing to do. We decided to try out The Children's Place online ordering. I had never done this before and with a packed schedule it was very handy! My daughter loved sitting don and being able to pick out an entire outfit for under $25. In fact she was not only able to get an out fit but to additional pairs of shorts! Not only was ordering fast and easy but we received our clothing in 2 days. Considering we hit a record high 103 degrees yesterday it came none to soon! Here is the adorable outfit that she picked out :O) she had to model it of course! Butterfly Shirt $6; Matching Shorts $6;Flip Flops to go with her out fit $3.50. The excitement of picking her outfit herself Priceless.
She really had so much fun with this and she loves her new flips flops(because the 5 pairs she…

Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler Review and Giveaway

Recently I was given an amazing opportunity to review a new product by Rubbermaid called the Hidden Recycler. As a family who does a lot to help our planet in many ways this was an exciting opportunity. I loved the fact the Rubbermaid not only made a product that would help my family continue their recycling more easily but they reduced packaging to merely a cardboard sleeve that I could in turn recycle. I quickly opened the package like a kid at Christmas and discovered it would not fit my kitchen cabinets :O( we are in the middle of a kitchen remodel and the layout of my old cabinets would not hold the brackets.  So as I sat down to gloat about not being able to use this amazing product, and I notice two holes on the lid and made a massive dash for the directions. Sure enough I can attach it with screws! (Which ironically took me forever to find in our construction materials) I found the perfect place for it in my laundry room and began putting all of Rubbermaid's claims to the …
