My Fast Metabolism Party With #MommyParties

I've struggled and struggled as I get older to lose just that last 10 pounds. I have never had the perfect diet so over time my metabolism had just become non existent. I was really excited when I was selected by Mom Select to do a mommy party on the new book The Fast Metabolism Diet. If you are a long time reader then you know a couple months ago we had started working out together at work. So of course as soon as I found I KNEW that was the perfect place to hold my party!

When I got my kit I was soooo excited! Not only did I receive 11 copies of the book, but I got a ton of free samples from Celestial Seasonings, which is by far my favorite tea maker. Great samples of raw organic cashew butter, I was very excited to try it. Two free product coupons from Applegate, another company I had never tried although I had seen them before at our local  health food store. To top off all this amazing stuff I got a brand new Crockpot!
So I got to planning, divided out all the goods and coupons so that everyone could have the same amount, boy was I excited. We started up some chicken in the crockpot for some yummy tacos early in the morning before school(we have kitchens in our rooms) it was so nice to be able to make a healthy dish while we went about our work day. It was a lot of fun going through the book and figuring out together how to boost our metabolism. As busy moms we all were eager to learn how to save time and lose weight.
I have to admit I was a little scared by the book. I like limited amount of veggies and I LOVE carbs! I am 2 weeks in now and starting to feel pretty good. Although I am still having to choke down the food, I just can't find enjoyment in it! I have found some great recipes though. I think my favorite part of this book is the nearly 100 pages of recipes that are listed by phases, which makes it really handy!
I'm really happy to say that our weightloss is going great! in 2 weeks I am down 2 pounds and in the last couple months several of the ladies at work have lost a size or more!
**I received the above mention products in order to have this party and conduct a review. All views expressed are those of my own.**

That is fantastic that you are trying your best. It really is never easy changing your eating style. I really want to work on mine too. It has been a struggle for a long time with me. I love how it comes with many recipes.

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)

Jello Hard Candy

Most hard candies call for corn syrup, but since I was out and I have 3 children home I decided to experiment and make something fun! Here is what you need:
2 Cups of Sugar
2 Cups of Water
1 Package Sugar Free Jello
A candy Thermometer

Making candy is a pretty tricky process and trust me I messed up a batch or two getting this to work right.lol Put the sugar and water into the pot and turn on medium whisking well till the sugar is dissolved. Stirring pretty regularly to help the sugar from burning. As the sugar begin to boil turn the heat up to high. Watch your thermometer when the candy reaches 230 pour in the jello continuing to mix. Pour this mixture immediately into a cake pan that is lined with parchment paper of you can rub a little veggie oil in it. The candy will continue to cook as it melts anything over 230 you will be left with a burnt candy that tastes like licorice.lol After you candy is cooled completely turn it out onto a cookie sheet and break apart :O) I like to dust mine …
