Teeccino & TeeChia Start Your New Year off Right!

Like many Americans I say every year that I am going to make a better life for myself and my family, and like many I fail. This year I have become bound and determined to keep that promise. My family has been making great efforts to live a Gluten Free lifestyle and reduce our caffeine intake. Recently I was introduced to some great products that are helping us do just that. I am an oatmeal LOVER so naturally I was eager to try this first product TeeChia High Performance Super Seeds Cereal. I received two flavor to try, the Blueberry Date and the Cinnamon Cranberry. I first tried the Cinnamon Cranberry which smelled simply AMAZING! I mixed it as directed and wasn't really a fan of the texture, although the flavor was great. When I made the Blueberry Date I decided to leave out a little bit of water and the texture was much better. I really preferred  the Cinnamon Cranberry for a hot morning cereal, I found a great use for the Blueberry Date though! I discovered if I take 1 cup of frozen berries, 1 banana and 1/3 cup TeeChia Cereal it makes for an amazing and filling smoothie! Here are some of the great benefits of TeeChia Cereal:

  • Gluten Free
  • 6 grams of Fiber per serving!
  • 1100 ALA Omega-3 Fatty Acids
  • No Sugar Added
  • 26 Grams of Whole Grains
  • Antioxidant-Rich Seeds & Fruits
The second product that we review here in our household was Teeccino. Teeccino was quite an interesting product, a naturally caffeine free herbal coffee, I know what you are thinking that really isn't that Here comes the interesting part:
  • Naturally Caffeine-free:no processing or chemical residues
  • Non Acidic:helps restore your alkaline balance
  • Natural Energy Boost:from nutrients not stimulants
  • Heart Healthy potassium and soluble fiber (1 gram per cup)
  • Prebiotics are found in the ground coffee and Inulin in the teebag

I bet I caught your attention at the word Teebag huh?? I was a little curious when these arrived. Basically it is coffee in tea bag form! Have hot water?!? You can have a cup of Organic, caffeine free coffee. Now I will admit I have never had a cup of coffee. So this review was left up to my husband. He was leery at first because of the words CAFFEINE FREE! However after I snuck it into the coffee pot the first time he was hooked! He said the flavor was very deep and rich, he couldn't even tell it was caffeine free. We tried one Teebag to just to see how it worked. It was a pretty cool little thing! We decided they would be perfect for our camping adventures and has since been placed in the camper.

*I received the above mentioned products by being a NaturallySavvy Sampler. All views expressed were that of my own and were in no way influenced.*

I love your posting about gluten free products, I too am on a search for them. I love herbal teas and pretty much drink them all day, have not found any that are caffeine free so you just made my day. Can not wait to try all of these.

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)

Jello Hard Candy

Most hard candies call for corn syrup, but since I was out and I have 3 children home I decided to experiment and make something fun! Here is what you need:
2 Cups of Sugar
2 Cups of Water
1 Package Sugar Free Jello
A candy Thermometer

Making candy is a pretty tricky process and trust me I messed up a batch or two getting this to work Put the sugar and water into the pot and turn on medium whisking well till the sugar is dissolved. Stirring pretty regularly to help the sugar from burning. As the sugar begin to boil turn the heat up to high. Watch your thermometer when the candy reaches 230 pour in the jello continuing to mix. Pour this mixture immediately into a cake pan that is lined with parchment paper of you can rub a little veggie oil in it. The candy will continue to cook as it melts anything over 230 you will be left with a burnt candy that tastes like After you candy is cooled completely turn it out onto a cookie sheet and break apart :O) I like to dust mine …
