Crinkled Nose Giveaway

As promised here is another great back to school giveaway from Mud Pies and Tiaras :O)

I'm a picture fanatic! I love taking pictures, especially of my kids. We also love sending photo cards. All of my hubby's family lives out of state and most of mine does as well so it's a great way to share holidays and such with them as well as friends. I was so excited to find CrinkledNose.com! They offer a huge selection of personalized announcements, invitations, and holiday cards. But what makes Crinkled Nose unique is that they offer the option of turning their cars and invites into magnets! How neat is that?! We get several photo cards during the holidays and I struggle with how to display them. Photo magnet cards are the perfect solution! Now grandparents have the perfect way to show off the grand kids. They don't have to worry about the cards getting lost or damaged. I decided to create my own 4th Of July card. The process was super easy. I just picked the template I wanted to use, uploaded the pic and added the text I wanted. One the card was created, I choose to add the magnet back feature. It's only $0.15 extra a card to have it as a magnet. Here's the cards we made (I've blocked out part of the text but it included all my kids' names).
I was so happy with my magnets! The picture quality was great and they looked great up on our fridge! They have SO many cards to choose from. I love the magnetic invites. No more worrying about losing the invitations. The date and time will be right there on your refrigerator! I also think these would be perfect for our baby announcements when our new little one comes :) In addition to cards, CrinkledNose.com also offers photo calendars, note pads, and recipe cards. And for you coffee lovers, they even have Personalized Coffee (micro roasted by award-winning O'Henry's Coffee Roasting Company) ! What a unique gift! If you are looking for unique, quality cards, check out CrinkledNose.com! As a bonus, use Discount code: mudpies25 for 25% off your order! One of our lucky readers will win 25 personalized magnetic photo cards of any design, in any size (Excludes Children's of Alabama card line). Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)

Jello Hard Candy

Most hard candies call for corn syrup, but since I was out and I have 3 children home I decided to experiment and make something fun! Here is what you need:
2 Cups of Sugar
2 Cups of Water
1 Package Sugar Free Jello
A candy Thermometer

Making candy is a pretty tricky process and trust me I messed up a batch or two getting this to work right.lol Put the sugar and water into the pot and turn on medium whisking well till the sugar is dissolved. Stirring pretty regularly to help the sugar from burning. As the sugar begin to boil turn the heat up to high. Watch your thermometer when the candy reaches 230 pour in the jello continuing to mix. Pour this mixture immediately into a cake pan that is lined with parchment paper of you can rub a little veggie oil in it. The candy will continue to cook as it melts anything over 230 you will be left with a burnt candy that tastes like licorice.lol After you candy is cooled completely turn it out onto a cookie sheet and break apart :O) I like to dust mine …
