Back to School Umi Shoes Giveaway

are you ready for school yet! Here is another great giveaway to get you ready.
My absolute favorite place for kids shoes is Umi Children's Shoes! They have a great selection, amazing quality and some awesome customer service to boot. All 3 of our kids have Umi shoes and wear them proudly. Knowing that the start of school is just around the corner, I knew we wanted Umi shoes for our kids again. Umi graciously sent me a pair for our daughters and a pair for our toddler son. For our daughters we received the Payce in Black.
I love the cute flower on the side. One of the main reasons we love Umi, is the comfort it offers our kids. The strap on the Payce is a soft elastic. It did not leave any mark of her skin, did not pinch and has plenty of stretch to it. Not ONCE have any of our kids gotten a red mark or blister from their Umi shoes. Every shoe is made with your children's comfort in mind. Our kids love when Umi boxes arrive. Here is our Hippie um...."modeling" her new shoes. LOL! And the Professor is definitely proud of his shoes. I chose the Brogan in Multi Navy. Some pre-shoe tickling from his daddy! It was so sweet. The Professor was so proud of his new shoes. My husband and I both love these shoes. Our son can wear them to church or out to play. They are durable and the velcro closure is a nice touch for active boys. As always I have noting but love for Umi and their entire line of shoes. And I am so pleased to announce that they are giving one of our readers a $60 gift card! Disclosure: The product(s) offered for the giveaway are free of charge, no purchase necessary. Any opinions expressed are my own honest opinions and are not influenced by any form of compensation. Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)

Jello Hard Candy

Most hard candies call for corn syrup, but since I was out and I have 3 children home I decided to experiment and make something fun! Here is what you need:
2 Cups of Sugar
2 Cups of Water
1 Package Sugar Free Jello
A candy Thermometer

Making candy is a pretty tricky process and trust me I messed up a batch or two getting this to work right.lol Put the sugar and water into the pot and turn on medium whisking well till the sugar is dissolved. Stirring pretty regularly to help the sugar from burning. As the sugar begin to boil turn the heat up to high. Watch your thermometer when the candy reaches 230 pour in the jello continuing to mix. Pour this mixture immediately into a cake pan that is lined with parchment paper of you can rub a little veggie oil in it. The candy will continue to cook as it melts anything over 230 you will be left with a burnt candy that tastes like licorice.lol After you candy is cooled completely turn it out onto a cookie sheet and break apart :O) I like to dust mine …
