Back to SChool Pandas Giveaway

Here is another great giveaway in the series of back to school giveaways! I hope we can help you get ready :O)

Do your kids have a passion for anything? Our middle daughter, has a soft spot in her heart for Panda's. She loves them and collects them and worries about them becoming extinct. One of her dreams is to visit China and see the Pandas living in their natural environment. At one point she had a dream to ride a panda. LOL! Anyways, when looking for Back to School items and panda themes, I literally stumbled across Pandas International. In case you are wondering, yes, they are a non-profit organization with a great mission! (The following is taken directly from their website)
"The Giant Panda, one of the most delightful and captivating of animals, is also one of the most endangered. The best scientific estimates place the number of wild pandas at approximately 1,600. In 1999, after a trip to China and the Wolong Panda Center, the sight and plight of the Giant Panda made such a dramatic impression on Suzanne Braden and Diane Rees that upon returning to the United States, they co-founded Pandas International to help save this magnificent animal. In 2000, tax exempt status was granted by the Internal Revenue Service and Pandas International became a registered 501 (c) (3) non profit. Pandas International is unique in that it is exclusively devoted to the Giant Panda, unlike other organizations, which serve many animals. As the Director of Pandas International, Ms. Braden coordinates both the annual and immediate needs of the Panda Centers. The personal relationships she has developed with Chinese officials, veterinarians and their staff members have allowed Pandas International to maximize its role in preserving this beloved species. Following the 2008 earthquake which destroyed the Wolong Panda Center and damaged the bamboo forest in the Nature Reserve, the challenge to save the Giant Panda has been made more difficult. Without intervention, this species could perish.
Mission Statement
The mission of Pandas International, a non-profit organization, is to ensure the preservation and propagation of the endangered Giant Panda. By providing public awareness and education, support for research, habitat preservation and enhancement, and assistance to Giant Panda Centers.
Endangered means we have time — Extinction is forever."
Pandas International makes it fun and easy to help support their cause by offering an entire online store filled with panda related gifts, clothes and so much more! I had my daughter browse their site and she said her favorite item was the I Heart Panda Tee, which retails for $15.00.
She is so proud of her shirt. And from a mom's perspective I love it too. The sleeves have the two colors to make it appear layered and I love the little ruffle. And after multiple washings, the print is still looking great!
Disclosure: The product(s) offered for the giveaway are free of charge, no purchase necessary. Any opinions expressed are my own honest opinions and are not influenced by any form of compensation. This giveaway is not in any way endorsed by or affiliated with Facebook.

Jello Hard Candy

Most hard candies call for corn syrup, but since I was out and I have 3 children home I decided to experiment and make something fun! Here is what you need:
2 Cups of Sugar
2 Cups of Water
1 Package Sugar Free Jello
A candy Thermometer

Making candy is a pretty tricky process and trust me I messed up a batch or two getting this to work right.lol Put the sugar and water into the pot and turn on medium whisking well till the sugar is dissolved. Stirring pretty regularly to help the sugar from burning. As the sugar begin to boil turn the heat up to high. Watch your thermometer when the candy reaches 230 pour in the jello continuing to mix. Pour this mixture immediately into a cake pan that is lined with parchment paper of you can rub a little veggie oil in it. The candy will continue to cook as it melts anything over 230 you will be left with a burnt candy that tastes like licorice.lol After you candy is cooled completely turn it out onto a cookie sheet and break apart :O) I like to dust mine …

Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler Review and Giveaway

Recently I was given an amazing opportunity to review a new product by Rubbermaid called the Hidden Recycler. As a family who does a lot to help our planet in many ways this was an exciting opportunity. I loved the fact the Rubbermaid not only made a product that would help my family continue their recycling more easily but they reduced packaging to merely a cardboard sleeve that I could in turn recycle. I quickly opened the package like a kid at Christmas and discovered it would not fit my kitchen cabinets :O( we are in the middle of a kitchen remodel and the layout of my old cabinets would not hold the brackets.  So as I sat down to gloat about not being able to use this amazing product, and I notice two holes on the lid and made a massive dash for the directions. Sure enough I can attach it with screws! (Which ironically took me forever to find in our construction materials) I found the perfect place for it in my laundry room and began putting all of Rubbermaid's claims to the …
