Gardening in West Texas-The Heat is ON!

It has been so hot and miserable here in West Texas with temperature expected to be over 100 again today. With the heats so high everything is struggling to live and watering is happening twice a day!

I couldn't get a good picture of all three today they were finding bugs

My random cucumber plant :O) I did not plant it there but it decided to grow

Our BIG corn, not sure why he is so happy but I'll keep him ;o)
Do you have a garden?? Any great gardening tips for me in this heat!

I don't know about Texas heat compared to my desert heat. We make sure we water in the evening so that the heat doesn't dry up the water too quickly as it does during the day. I wish we could grow corn, but we always have wind here that breaks them down. I do know that if you see them wilting in the afternoon heat, give them a little more water.

I'm in Texas too, but I wish I could give you tips...this weather is something else! Watering at night is a must, but it seems to bring the mosquitoes too.

Ugh yes I hate those little buggers!

I love gardening... I have mine going every summer... the trick to have to water less often is to put some mulch down in your garden. It keeps the soil humid longer. ;)

I wish I could help out you out with some info here. I'm not the one with the green thumb. Mom gave me a plant once and said it was okay, it wasn't killable. I killed it.

I should try that :)
Hot here isn't it? I bet it's hotter in west TX than it is in north TX though!!

KIMMMMMM

It's hot here, but not as hot as it is for you guys. I say just install a water drip system to keep that ground moist for starters. Other than that get some shade blankets/walls for the heat. Grow something on the outside of your smaller plants to shield them from the wind and even partly sun

#Cozycatfurniture Growing up Kitty with Ginger

It has been so many years since we have had a kitten around the house I think I had forgotten just how active and amazing they are! I am sure many of you have seen me talk about Ginger our baby. She is FeLV positive, and just days short of her 7 month birthday. We also have 2 other boys with are getting up there in age. Thomas has always been a scratcher and I admit I had never thought about getting a kitty tree before this. Earlier in the month a great opportunity to review the Kitty Condo Tree from   Cozy Cat Furniture came about I thought oh great Ginger will have a place to nap, play, learn, and most importantly SCRATCH!      It Arrived in a box which I have to admit scared me a bit at first, it was much small then I thought.....was the tree smaller....was this one of those "some adult assembly required" items? Luckily it was easy to put together and came out so much sturdier then I had expected.  Even before we could give the word go Ginger was eager to play a

I've mentioned before my love of Build-a-Bear, there is nothing that brings a bigger smile to a child's face then being able to create their very own personalized furry friend. One of the great parts about Build-a-Bear is they are constantly updating the friends you can create. Right now they have a great selection on Valentines friends that you and your children can create and love. I got the chance this month to review a friend that is available just TODAY!
