Happy Mother's Day

Wishing all my fans a happy Mother's Day :O) we celebrated yesterday by building planter boxes and lowes. Then we went out and bought the newest car we ever have. It is sure to greatly improve our camping fun!
My husband still thinks it is his ;o)
I also got to buy a new car seat. You know you would really think this would be a fun and easy task.lol However my daughter is 4 years old now and in the 97th percentile for her height, however she only weighs 33 pounds. In the state of Texas she MUST be in a 5 point harness still. Until recently there was only 2 carseats that were tall enough to support her, the Graco Nautilus and the Evenflo Maestro, both GREAT car seats by the way. Yesterday the surrounding stores were out though and well she would have been so mad if she couldn't ride home in the new Jeep with daddy! So after 30 minutes of saying angry words I removed her car seat from my truck and put it in daddy's :OP Then I went on a car seat hunt. Mommy went on a car seat mission, and after measuring probably 20 different seats the store associate told me about a new one they just got in to sell. That is when I found out about a new car seat the stores just stared carrying the Safety 1st Guide 65 Sport Convertible Car Seat. I held my breath praying not to have to remove the car seat from the Jeep.lol Sure enough it is big enough :O) and was only $78. Bad news is that it is not a booster and goes only to 65 pounds. But with 3 inches of torso growth left, I'm not to worried.
Best part is it is bright pink and black
Give yourself piece of mind this mother's day that you are doing everything to project your child in the car. Check your state laws as they are all different at http://www.ghsa.org/html/stateinfo/laws/childsafety_laws.html but remember those are just guidelines :O) I always recommend using a car seat until your child cannot properly fit in one. You can never be to safe.

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)

Jello Hard Candy

Most hard candies call for corn syrup, but since I was out and I have 3 children home I decided to experiment and make something fun! Here is what you need:
2 Cups of Sugar
2 Cups of Water
1 Package Sugar Free Jello
A candy Thermometer

Making candy is a pretty tricky process and trust me I messed up a batch or two getting this to work right.lol Put the sugar and water into the pot and turn on medium whisking well till the sugar is dissolved. Stirring pretty regularly to help the sugar from burning. As the sugar begin to boil turn the heat up to high. Watch your thermometer when the candy reaches 230 pour in the jello continuing to mix. Pour this mixture immediately into a cake pan that is lined with parchment paper of you can rub a little veggie oil in it. The candy will continue to cook as it melts anything over 230 you will be left with a burnt candy that tastes like licorice.lol After you candy is cooled completely turn it out onto a cookie sheet and break apart :O) I like to dust mine …
