Great Reasons To Not Eat Raw Eggs

Most of us have done it, snuck a lick of the cake batter bowl, a spoon of cookie dough, You know what I am talking about. Even some fitness experts swear that eating raw eggs will make you that much stronger. Well here are some really good reasons to not lick that bowl. 1.E coli! Nope it isn't just a myth. Let's face it no egg can ever be 100% kept at just the right temperature. Cooking an egg is the only way to make sure you kill the bacteria. And one really enjoys vomiting, diarrhea or death do they :OP 2.Biotin Deficiency! Raw eggs have a protein that binds to Biotin and doesn't allow the body to absorb it. You may think...sooooo...well this can cause depression, stomach pains, and ugly hair and nails! Honestly growing up I did this every time. Even till recently I did, but then it began to make sense. My hair, nails, emotions have all gotten better since I have given up these habits :O) was it easy?? NO NO NO! But it is worth it!

Maty's All Natural Vapor Rub

Living in West Texas means more then just getting sick as a reason for not being able to breath. It also means the constant flow of allergies year round. My middle son has a lot of breathing troubles and even takes several daily medications. Some days struggling to take in enough oxygen. We often look for another ways to open up his breathing passages. Vapor rubs have been one of the ways we help him clear his breathing passages.  Maty's All Natural Vapor Rub is wonderful! In fact I'm not sure I can say enough about it. My favorite part is that I can pronounce and recognize EVERY ingredient in it and it is petroleum free. Since we started using this product my son has woke up with so much more energy. You know they say right on the box that their "petroleum free blend of essential oils boosts immune function while it helps to open air passages." Honestly I see it more and more every day! Maty's is not greasy like some other brands and goes on easy. We will be a

West Texas Garden Progress-Slow and Steady wins the race.............Right??

With temperatures already  hitting 104 this year my garden is having trouble clinging to life. My rain barrel certainly helps but with young plants everything is having a hard time surviving. I seem to be planting and planting with only minimal success. The potatoes are growing great and I even added another tire to the layer. I've been adding straw hay to cover the plants as they grow. This is suppose to help build a great potato crop. The plants were having a rough time at first through the heat but they seem to being going strong now. They REALLY like the used hay that comes from the chicken coop! The onions, on the far left, are growing like weeds! I can even smell them when I go to weed by them. The only other plants surviving seem to be the beans. I have plants 50+ cucumber plants with no luck. I recently planted seeds for corn and cucumbers in the empty rows. Oh and I do have one corn plant that survived the Of course what everyone seems to love most is

Rain Barrel

Last year was pretty much a complete waste trying to keep my garden alive. My water bills skyrocketed and I was still left with very little to show for it. Towards the end of the season I had a great idea why not use the water from my washer and save a  little money. I had looked into rain barrels at the store and couldn't believe the price! $80 for a barrel with a hole in the thanks. On the way home we passed by this old "junk" store and saw they had big plastic barrels outside $8! SCORE! So we quickly bought one and got a couple parts to attach a hose. With a simple outdoor faucet part and a PVC piece to screw on the back I had my rain barrel for $15. Since it didn't really rain last year though we decided to drain the washer into it But it works just the same and has saved me $20 a month! I may even just get some veggies this year ;o) Review

Let's face it ladies you have all looked in the mirror before and thought, wow I could really use a waist cincher! lol After three kids and a sugar addiction I know my body is certainly not what it use to be. Don't worry this is still a family friendly site :O) I told myself when I started working with companies I would always find a way to keep anything I did family friendly. So when I got the chance to review a corset for I was at first a little apprehensive, but I took the time to look through their site and found much more then just adult corsets! I found a great selection of corset tops as well and in a wide range of sizes from a small to a 4X! When talking with a friend about this company she was pleasantly surprised to finally find a company that offered plus size corsets.  When it came in the mail I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the corset itself, I had bought others in the past but this one is very well made and sturdy. As you can see i

Clothes Pin Spelling

All year long it has been a struggle with my middle child. He just doesn't learn the same as all the other children :O) So I have been trying to come up hands on ways to help him learn and Clothes Pin Spelling has been such a  great help. Fast and easy to make and at $4 including a place to store it I couldn't go wrong. It has really helped his spelling and even my 4 year old loves to play!

With summer time in full force here in West Texas getting some new summer time clothing was not only a needed thing but a fun thing to do. We decided to try out The Children's Place online ordering. She really had so much fun with this and she loves her new flips flops(because the

Tiny Tillia

Recently I was given the amazing opportunity to review a product I had never heard of. Tiny Tillia I quickly learned was by AVON a well known and trusted company in this family. We were given several things to put to the test. Calming Lavender Shampoo and Conditioner,Citrus Shampoo & Body wash, Dilly Pig Bath Mitt, an amazingly soft blanket, and "Geoffrey" the Giraffe Stuffed toy<--not his real name but I can't seem to find his real name and that is what my daughter calls him :O) Neither one has left her side since they came in the mail :O) Having a child with really curly hair it has always been a struggle to find a product that leaves her hair manageable. I think I have tried just about every commercially available product. While using the Calming Lavender Shampoo and Conditioner I think her hair has been softer and more manageable then ever! I'm really glad to have had this opportunity because her hair is typically a rats nest of knots! If your

Need I say more really?? After a long morning of running around I am finally ready to sit down for a breath. I hope everyone had an amazing Earth Day! Happy Earth Day!

It is hard to believe that 50 years ago Senator Gaylord Nelson saw a need for the environment to be paid attention to. Over a long 7 year process Earth Day as finally formed and shortly after that the EPA. Myself I can't imagine manufacturing plants with black smoke just pouring from them. Or being able to dump toxic waste directly into the water! Today in honor of his advancements in humanity we spend the day being as environmentally friendly as possible. Sometimes it is the little things that can help in the long run! What is your family doing today to honor Earth Day? What do you do every day to help save the planet??

Making Paper :O)

As a mother of three children, two of which are in school, you can probably imagine the amount of paper we get home. I really hate just throwing all of this paper away so I love coming up with ideas to reuse this paper. I remember making paper in my moms blender. So I thought why not show my children that fun! It is really fast and easy, perhaps just a tad messy, but so fun! Simply take some papers, I used 8 I believe, and tear them into pieces. These don't have to be tiny pieces it just makes less work for your blender or food processor. Put them all in and add several cups of water. Then BLEND BLEND BLEND! I always use a piece of window screening because it allows me to move it and smoosh the water out :O). So take your mixture and put it on your screening. If you don't have screening you can just put it on the cookie sheet, it may just take a little more work getting it flat and most of the liquid out. Slowly flatten it out so you paper is even. You will notice how most o

I can't believe we have made it this far! When I found out their average life was only 8 weeks I won't lie I was really sad. Here I held these adorable little creatures in my hand and in two months they may be gone. well have a successful 7 weeks of life I am glad to say that they are crazy and as good as ever! They do go through an amazing amount of water so I think I am going to have to figure out something more. I am limiting their feedings to twice a day they get a 10 ounce cup of food spread on the ground. We also have been giving them lawn clippings and weeds that pop up. The kids also like to give them their apple Our next goal is getting eggs :O) from what I read this could take up to another 8 weeks! But we are looking forward to that journey. Our little Rapunzel just a couple days old Two crazy chickens hoping for

Whole Wheat Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Every no and again my family ends up with left over bananas. Which I guess isn't really surprising since I don't even like So I am always looking for new ways to use these bananas up that are not banana bread. This recipe was given to me by a blogger friend over at The 4M Project . It was pretty fast and simple :O) He is what you need. 2 Cups of Whole Wheat Flour 3 Mushy Bananas 1 Cup of Chocolate Chips 1 Cup of Walnuts 1 1/2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder 1/2 Teaspoon of Baking Soda 1 Egg 4 Tablespoons of Butter 1/2 Teaspoon of Nutmeg 1/2 Teaspoon of Cinnamon 1/3 Cup of Milk In a bowl combine the Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Baking Soda, Baking Powder, Walnuts, Chocolate Chips, and Flour. In a separate bowl put in the remaining ingredients and mix well. Stir in the dry ingredients and mix well. Spoon this mixture into lined muffin tins and bake at 350 degrees for 7-12 minutes. Makes about 20 muffins, let cool a bit and enjoy!

Fabric Softener

For a little over a year now I have been making my own Laundry Detergent  saving about $125 so far for a great result. Well recently I decided it was time to try my hand at fabric softener. I never buy it because for nearly $100 a year it just was never worth it to me! So I searched and searched around Pinterest and they all seem to be about the same recipe, so I figured why not. It was so fast and easy and smells just like the stuff you buy in the store! *6 Cups of HOT Water * 1-16 ounce bottle of conditioner(remember this will be what your softener smells like!) *3 Cups of Vinegar *A 1 Gallon Container Place the conditioner and hot water into your container and mix well. Then add your vinegar and you are DONE! It made an entire gallon nearly! You simply use just like you would your normal softener but at a price of  about $1.25 for 96 ounces instead of $3-7 depending on your brand.

TuneUp Utilities 2012 Review

As a blogger of course my computer is very important to what I do. In fact without it I couldn't even be a blogger. Recently I was given a chance to review a great program called TuneUp Utilities 2012 . This opportunity couldn't have come at a better time. I was really one computer crash away from launching this computer out the window! This program was super easy to download and install. It loaded quickly and was ready with pages of things wrong with my computer! Now I can't say I was REALLY surprised since I had been having issues, but in the past I have tried other programs with no luck of really fixing the problem. So while skeptical I went about fixing all the suggested issues. Much to my surprise the update, which always made my computer bring up the blue screen of death, FINALLY updated! Ever since I installed this program my computer has made a total change and I am thankful. I would recommend this product to anyone not just people who are having issues. **I rece

Not All Programs Work For All People

I have felt all week like such a failure as I just continue to gain and get sicker on this program I am doing. By everything I have learned in school and through reading it really should be the perfect program. I have been really down on myself telling myself it must be something I am doing wrong. Going over every calculation over and over again to see what I am doing wrong. I think I just need to accept the fact that not every program works for every body. Dustin has designed a great program and support system with his Mommy Bloggers Weightloss Challenge. I just don't fit the typical mold. As I continue on my path to health and physical fitness I will share with you any ideas I may come across. I hope some can help you but like me remember every body is different and you  will probably have to try different things before finding something that works for you. Most importantly just never give up! While I may not be able to follow the program set forth by the Mommy Blogger Weightlos

Making Memories Not Millions

We had such an amazing Easter here. While it was unconventional I wouldn't have changed it for the world. We went camping up at Conchas Lake New Mexico. We had so many journeys and found some odd and amazing things! All these cans were sitting out in plain site which I think amazed me even more. All of them date from the 1950s to the 1970s! All of them are from brands you will probably recognize :O) I hope they give you a trip down memory lane, we certainly enjoyed finding them. Schlitz beer in a steal can! Coors Original can this one was never actually opened it seems but a tiny little hole let out the beer. Also a steal can! Picture is hard to see but this is a pull top coca cola can :O) Shasta Draft Root Cragmont Cherry Cola
