Day 17 Crockpot Challenge Ultimate Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

So this isn't an original idea but when I was wanting to try mashed potatoes out, I figured why not check out some other sites. Well I found this recipe at Pillsbury.com I figured well what goes best with a nice Smoked Brisket, and Homemade BBQ Baked Beans mashed potatoes for course! Here is what you need :O)

5 pounds of baking potatoes peeled and cut into chunks(I used russets)
1 1/2 Cup Chicken Broth
1/2 stick of butter
1 Cup Sour Cream or Plain Yogurt(don't tell my kids ;o) )
1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
1/2 Cup to 1 Cup of Milk
Salt and pepper to taste

Put your butter, chicken broth, and butter into your crockpot and allow them to cook on high for 4 to 4 1/2 hours. When that is done add everything else besides the milk and mash well. Mix in milk as needed and enjoy!

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)
