Peanut Butter Chocolate Protein Bars

As a mother of 3 I am always so busy, so trying to add time to workout in my schedule has been hard. They say it is best to people to eat 6 small meals a day so I had that to work with to.lol I needed something that I could eat that was fast, tasty, and would keep my metabolism busy without making my stomach cramp. It all made my head spin. I tried protein shakes but then mother nature would come calling in the middle of my run. Protein bars in the store are so costly and lets face it they taste well.....like protein bars. SO I made the healthiest version I could come up with :O) here is what you need to make them:


  • Quick Oats-3 Cups
  • Cocoa Powder-1/8 Cup
  • Peanut Butter-1 Cup
  • 2/3 Cup Water
  • 1/4 Scoop Chocolate Protein Powder
Now mixing these together was probably the hardest part of everything! Start by mixing together all the dry ingredients. Then add the water and peanut butter in. I mixed with a spoon as long as I could but really I just couldn't get it well mixed. So dig your hands in.lol It is a little gross but it mixes it really good.
Now there are really several ways you can "serve" these up. The first time I pressed the mixture into a 8 by 13 ish cake pan. I had waxed paper on the bottom so I could lift it out and cut it. I cut it into 32 squares. I think the easiest way however is to get a teaspoon and roll it into about 32 balls. Usually for my recipes I don't calculate the calories, but I figured if we were going healthy we should probably know how bad they are for us :O) I usually enjoy either one before my workout(if I am really  hungry) and one after. Or I have both after my workout.

Calories per serving: 77
Fat: 4.75 grams
Fiber: 1.31 grams
Protein: 3.14 grams

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup.Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol
