French Bread!

Breads are a fairly new things to me so I never really create things on my own.lol In fact this was my first bread I have made by hand it is usually always in the bread machine! So when I was looking for a good recipe I headed over to My Side of Life, my favorite blog, and found a french bread. It was pretty simple and I think I did everything right :O)

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 package yeast
(rapid-rise recommended)
1 cup warm water
salt to taste (I used 3/4 teaspoon)

In a large bowl, combine water with yeast and salt. You will then need to let sit for five minutes. Stir in flour until the dough is stiff enough to knead. I added a half of a cup at a time and when I got to about 2 1/2 cups turned it out onto a counter. Remember 3 cups is not an exact amount it may vary. Knead dough until smooth and elastic–a few minutes. Place dough in a greased bowl and cover to let rise until doubled. Form dough into a french-style loaf and place on greased baking sheet.  Place immediately in oven surprisingly NOT PREHEATED!–bread will rise as oven heats up. Set oven at 375-degrees. Bake for 30-40 minutes.
I'm not even going to lie hers is way better looking then mine.lol If you want to see the original recipe and check out some of her other amazing recipes check out her page My Side of Life :O)

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)
