Crock Pot Rice Casserole

I really had no idea what I was going to make for dinner I am trying hard to use up all those things in my pantry and fridge that get shoved to the back all the time. So I started throwing stuff together.lol Not really the best method but it what I was going with. :OP Here is what I ended up with:

1 & 1/2 cups Brown Rice
1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
1 Cup Dried Black Beans(or 1 can of Black Beans)
1 Cup Dried Kidney Beans(or 1 can of Kidney Beans)
2 Cups of Peas
2 Cups of Corn
4 Cans of Water
2 Cups of Shredded Chicken

I started by boiling my beans for about 30 minutes then rinsing well. I was hoping to avoid the black coloring from the black beans. Then I put everything but the peas and corn into the crockpot and turned it on. If you are going to cook it all day use low! If you want it in a couple hours use high! this was my biggest mistake.lol about 30 minutes before you are ready to serve add the peas and corn to the crockpot and mix them in. I served with corn bread and topped with a little Worcestershire sauce. Now I will point out this makes A LOT of food probably enough for 6+ adults.

Homemade Fly Traps

We all love summer but as the weather gets warmer the flies get worse and worse. We have a bush out front of our house that I swear just attracts every fly in town! I wanted to get rid of them but I didn't want to kill all the wonderful butterflies it also attracts. So I went about finding a new way to kill them all. I had some empty Tazo tea bottles I simply poked a pen sized whole in the top, added 1/2 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of syrup. Now I do find that these work better if you place them in the sun :O) If you want to use a bigger container simply multiply the ingredients. Make sure your hole is only about the size of a pen cap! Then they can't seem to get back out.lol

Putting On Girl Scout Badges With A Flat Iron

I love helping all my little daisies earn badges, but as a mom I hate putting them on. Lol I saw an idea on Pinterest a while back to use a flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked really well but I do have a couple suggestions. First make sure your badge  is exactly where you want them. Unlike an iron this causes the glue to melt very fast! Second count I 3-4 and it is probably done! Lastly you will likely have to apply pressure to the end pinching it tight. Overall it worked very well and I will probably keep putting badges on this way :)
